Mobile Apps for Musicians and Fans

With mobile’s growing dominance, there are various apps that Musicians can use to help their careers and show their creativity. There are so many apps out there that Musicians should take the time to try some out and then figure out which apps work best for them. Check out the apps below and let us know what you think!

Instagram + Hipstamatic

With 27 million registered users and growing, Instagram has nearly doubled its number of registered users since December. Instagram is the popular photo-sharing app that helps people take a picture and apply filters to it. Musicians like Jason Mraz have used Instagram as a tool to engage with fans. He held a contest where people were encouraged to submit Instagram photos with their interpretations of his song, “I Won’t Give Up”. Then, 25 winners were selected and were invited to meet Jason Mraz at a private showcase in New York City. CanvasPop printed the top photos on a large canvas and had Mraz sign it. Check out all the winning photos.

Recently, Instagram announced that it would open up its API to allow users of another photo-sharing app, Hipstamatic, to tag their photos with lenses and filters and then put them on Instagram. Instagram is available on the iPhone and currently being developed for the Android. Sign up to get notified when Instagram will be available on Android here. While you wait, Mashable posted a list of Instagram Alternatives for Android.

Viddy

For sharing videos, check out Viddy – it is like an Instagram for videos. Videos can be 15 seconds maximum in length so users should use those few seconds wisely. After you take a video with your phone or use an existing video, you can add special visual effects, music, titles, geo-locations, and tags. There are also various production packs to enhance your videos as well. T-Pain partnered with Viddy and launched a premium Viddy production pack based on his single “5 o’Clock” with Wiz Khalifa and Lily Allen. Viddy has also partnered with The Muppets, Snoop Dogg, and Incubus to create Production Packs. Once you are done editing, you can share the video to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Tumblr.

Via.me

RadiumOne Labs recently launched the app, Via.me, that lets users share pictures, videos, sound, and content across multiple social networks. If you want to share an array of content, then you can try Via.me since it’s all in one app. According to thenextweb.com, Via.me is “part Pinterest, part Tumblr, part Instagram, and it actually works”.

Artist Growth

A company that is making a big splash in the music industry is Artist Growth. Artist Growth is a mobile app that helps Musicians manage their careers. Musicians can use this app to manage gigs, finances, schedule, and much more. Artist Growth has partnered with BMI to offer live performance royalty registrations. Currently, Musicians can use Artist Growth for free for a limited time only.
