Get pumped for the 2012 Olympics!

The Olympics are coming up on July 27 in London! To get pumped up [kicks], check out the playlist below and hear it on Songza. If you have any songs that you think should be included, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @ncswim881.

“Chariots of Fire” - Vangelis:
This song has been used in a lot of movies and in scenes with slow motion. Originally from the British film, Chariots of Fire, this song is epic and motivational. This song is being used to fanfare the carriers of the Olympic flame on parts of its route through the UK. Watch a clip here.

“I Was Here” - Beyonce: On this song, Beyonce sings about leaving a legacy, seizing the moment, and making a difference. Watch Beyonce perform “I Was Here”.

“The Fighter” - Gym Class Heroes (feat. Ryan Tedder): In the music video for “The Fighter”, the Gym Class Heroes and Ryan Tedder are joined by Olympic hopeful and gymnast, John Orozco. The video shows Orozco’s journey from the Bronx, and showcases how to overcome struggles.

“We Are The Champions” - Queen: Qualifying for the Olympics makes you a champion. Keeping fighting till the end.

“Gold” - Owl City: Gold is what many athletes are striving for when they head to the Olympics. Check out “Gold” here.

“Fix You” - Coldplay: London is going to be crowded this summer with athletes, fans, tourists, over 25,000 artists, and celebrities. Just check out the myriad of events here. British rock band, Coldplay is scheduled to headline the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games. This song is a reminder that you still have your home and support from family and friends.

“Survival” - Muse: “Survival” has been made the official song for the 2012 Olympics. The song will be played during all medal ceremonies as well as every time the athletes enter the stadium. According to Muse, the song was written “with the Olympics in mind. It’s about total conviction and pure determination to win”.

Bonus song: “Where We Used To Run” - Landon Austin: I wanted to include YouTube musician, Landon Austin, on this playlist. His song, “Where We Used To Run”, inspires people to follow their dreams.

Remember:

This is our time
Some will fall and some will rise
And our lives
Are what we make ‘em, are what we make ‘em

The Olympic Games run from July 27-August 12 and are televised on NBC.
