Kina Grannis warms our heart in Toronto!
Not long ago, a couple of us from Tunezy had the privilege of recording at the DNA Recording Facility here in Toronto. We wanted to choose a pleasant and happy song, so something by Kina Grannis would be an obvious choice. And recently we had the opportunity to see her here in concert in Toronto and it was a fantastic show!
Touring is becoming increasingly important for musicians of all walks of life - especially those that who choose to remain independent. It is rare to see two musicians on stage with only a guitar and a cello draw such a large crowd. There were about 500 people packed at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. Though most were female, I did see a pretty large male turnout - not surprising! Alongside her cellist Keith Tutt, she performed some of my favourites including In Your Arms (aka Jelly Bean song), Valentine and Safe and Sound.
Her show was proof that simple is effective, especially since she is so musically talented! I am curious to see how she will evolve with her concerts over time though. Kina will be continuing her tour throughout Canada and the U.S. and we wish her all the best! You can check out all her tour info dates and locations at www.kinagrannis.com/shows.
